Eastside Games with Friends Weekly Meetup

 Welcome to our weekly playgroup!

We are a fun group of people who enjoy getting together to act foolish, make jokes, talk trash, laugh, and play games. Because of the spontaneous nature of our group, we usually show up not knowing what we're going to play. Some days we end up playing just "our faves". The truth is that we'll play any game if someone brings it and convinces us we want to learn how to play it. It's not about what types of games we play, it's that we play games.

We have games starting at various times until 8 with people arriving at various intervals as well. (We are usually able to stay until 9:30 to finish games.)  There really isn't any reason that you can't get into a game no matter when you arrive.

Click here to see a list of all the games we've played.

Heeey, I uploaded 40 photos :( What was deleted and why didn't meetup tell me - t'was "my" pic afterall. I don't mind that a pic was deleted nor does it matter to me who did the deleting... I just think that meetup should inform the people who posted the pic in the first place be informed that one of them was deleted - that's all... And now I have _another_ "mystery" on my hands... ;P

Jenn: There were two identical copies of one of the later photos; I deleted the second one.

Rob: at first I thought I'd "caught you in the midst" of fixinga pic, like you are want to do ;) and I'm totally cool with the deletion of duplications, but I _still_ don't understand why meetup wouldn't inform the original poster that one of theirpix has been deleted... (it's like I'm "not really in charge" *silly grin*)

It was absolute fun and mayhem at Denny's after Panera. Amongst the mayhem, I taught Anomia to a group... and when the category that needed to be called from was "plant", Jeff said "Rock!" and I broke out into hysterical -nothing!- I was laughing soh hard that I stopped breathing... for about a minute that lasted. And I didn't even have to pay for my chicken noodle soup... our waiter spend his past 10mins-ish with us then left. I don't remember having received a check, and when I went up to the counter at the end of the evening, the cashier said that my check was in the system and it had been paid. (sweet) Secret Admirer, I guess.

The same group that learned Anomia from me learned Mad Zeppelin from Jeff. What a silly and somewhat confusing game that was. In fact, the whole group of us, about a Baker's Dozen, were fairly hyped up and silly... or perhaps that was just our table. ;) As for service, from the aforementioned , it was nil. Do we want to find another place to haunt?

I did find a couple restaurants that I want to try out in my spare time though, both on or off of Highland Road... Mulligan's and Crostatas Rustic Pizza. Especially the later. Mmmmmm...

I think it also says something that _no one else_ on the staff was willing to wait on us. Not that I'm altogether _that_ surprised... It is Denny's afterall, what do we _Really_ excpect. And we're not really spending a whole lot of money... So what do we expect. SOme who bought "endless" drink, did expect that, at least. But we did have a fun time despite all that...

I spent the better part of my time at Panera playing Power Grid: SPain & Portugal with Nic, Lynne, and Rob... and those abbbbyyy fabbbyyyy mega chips starring the baranded new purple 100 electro!! ooooo! I was the very firstest person to earn this chip - yay me! I played a more agressive game than my usualy to attain said aformentioned chip ;) I also made a Power PLant Deal with Lynne (at the end, as it turned out). I bought 7 cities to make the 17 required to end the game - as a resuly Lynne had 28 more elctro than I did and won - congrats! I should've waited another round, but I was also ready for the game to end.

After a bit of a break with a lil' bit o' my usual "schmoozing", Rob and I played Can't Stop! and I won - taking both the 2 & 12 "trains" ;P Those _are_ mine, btw *silly giggles*

Jenn needs to add Stephanie O to the attendence which will make us 33! Also, the Grande List has now exceeded the 7,500 character limit... I split the list into A-L and M-Z posts which are now located on page 13of the discussion posting list... I'm hoping that "someone out there"has a better solution... *fingers crossed*

My picture upload is complete. A couple other games in the pix may not be clear: Priests of Ra, Chupacabra. My review and attendence will happen later.

I'll make it three, for the charm ;)

Woohoo--I got my new Power Grid expansions yesterday! I now have BeNeLux/Central Europe (played previously in EGwF), Japan/Russia and Brasil/Iberia (Spain & Portugal). I was hoping to get a game of one of the latter two together--I would like to try Spain & Portugal, but I'm open to suggestions.

Woo! Hoo! Looks like we have our four ;) Perhaps we should set up next to the window again? Or maybe "in the corner"?

I'd rather set up where we were last week; it isn't butt cold and two of us won't be pinned in for the duration. My second choice would be the triple table; the two people pinned in will at least be comfy. : )

I really would like to get a game of Brass in for this meeting. It's a lengthy(2-3 hours) and complicated one... but it's designed by the same guy as Railways Of The World/Railroad Tycoon. It seats 3-4... any interest? If not, Ora et Labora(2-4 players, also about 2 hours) sounds good too...

    • Patrick

Michael, I'll bring the two games and hopefully we'll get a couple more people on board.

Ora would be my first choice, but Brass is good too.
