DESCRIPTION of TRAVEL PRESENTATIONS:

RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL 101

Meaningful, responsible travel can change us - and can change the world. How can travel help us feel connected, to do good, to make a difference? Joe Staiano, Responsible Travel Meetup Organizer and founder of Meaningful Trip, has explored 75+ countries throughout his 2-decade career in responsible travel. He’ll help define Responsible Travel and share examples from his recent journeys to NEPAL, INDIA, COLOMBIA, TURKEY and TUSCANY. After the slide show, we want to hear from you! Have you taken a responsible trip? Are you planning one? What is meaningful to you?

RESPONSIBLE TREKKING in NEPAL

Every hiker’s dream - to trek in Nepal. Exotic Kathmandu with its golden temples, fluttering prayer flags and chants of Buddhist monks… Trek past terraced fields and bamboo forests… Overnight at guest lodges in ethnic villages… Stand in awe at Himalayan peaks. As good as all that sounds, it might just pale in comparison to the warmth and friendliness of the Nepalese people. Joe Staiano, ‘Responsible Travel Meetup’ organizer, and founder of Meaningful Trip, has explored 75+ countries throughout his 2-decade career in responsible travel. He’ll answer your questions on: visas, conditioning, weather, seasons, food, water and more. He’ll give examples of responsible treks that support Save the Children and EWN, Empowering Women of Nepal, who trains disadvantaged rural women of Nepal to be female trekking guides – the first of their kind!

TURKEY * TUSCANY

Adventure travel in Europe’s two best destinations – and do it responsibly!
Magical Turkey has it all… Exotic Istanbul, Cappadocia’s sculpted rocks, ancient ruins, rural villages, amazing cuisine and shimmering turquiose Mediterranean waters. This multi-sport includes hiking, kayaking and sailing. Make it responsible by supporting education initiatives for young girls.
Tuscany, aaaaah, Tuscany! Explore the treasures of Florence and Siena; Hike or cycle cyprus-dotted hillsides, sip Chianti… IN Chianti, have fun in a cooking class and enjoy the cuisine and welcoming warmth of the Tuscan people… Enjoy all this, AND, support Feeding America’s hunger initiatives… Now, that’s AMORE!

FUN! What a fantastic Sunday sitting at Panera, meeting interesting and friendly people and chit-chatting about responsible travel. It was like the UN.. with people's heritages coming from: Somalia, India, Egypt, Japan and USA. We talked about different cultural feast-days around the world. Would love to see a future POTLUCK party where everyone brings a dish from their homeland.
