Having a go at a really easy bike ride

Just thought I'll give cycling a go, so if you've got a bike in the shed go pull it out and give easy cycling a try, on saturday i thought of doing a few times round strathclyde Park and maybe take one of the track that lead of from the park if peopleare wanting to go further.

Please everyone interested in cycling aswell as walking please leave a comment on the page even if you can'y attend this saturday, just so I can get an idea of how many are interested for future rides.

Meeting at the boating centre at the lochside there's a big car park and more importantly a cafe there!!

Great to get into the saddle easy style, see Debby again and meet Susan. Discovered I had muscles long forgotten about, I hope this couldbe a nice little added extra to the group walks.

Sorry i missed you, not brave enough to go on bike myself for 1st time in 15 years, having roll & sausage in cafe instead & then walking it off after! See you next time

    • Alan G.

You missed out there Alison none of us have cycled much, it's the whole point of easy to give things ago you've either not done or not very good at. Its never a competition with us, just gentle exercise and maybe getting a wee bit out of puff. And if your a bit wobbly so what, we all are:-)

Thats not cheap, if you've got space in your car for a bike you can use my mountain bike as its all tarmac my road bike shouldbe fine but I only have space for 2 bike and I'm already taking one down for Debby

    • Alan G.

That or i can do a round then you can it 3.6 miles per lap that might work. anyway that the opinions I can offer.

Hi Allan, does your bike have a very low bar as Im not confident with a high one. I have to be able to put both my feet on the ground when stopping.!

5'3 and 3/4 I would love a trial run. Travel is a prob sometimes because of not having my own transport. I will look up buses for Strathclyde Park. Or do you travel from City Centre or anywhere near West End, if so would it be possible to hitch a lift.? Once I get my bearings for Strathclyde Park travel wise, I would be fine.

Hi. Interesting idea. I can't do this weekend but would be willing to give it a go. However, would prefer to go somewhere with a train station so that I could take bike on the train there and back since I don't have a cycle rack on my car. Hope everyone who gives it a go has a great day - assuming there is no snow!

Walk out the station onto the high st turn right down the hill about a mile on your right and theres lots of buses too.

Hi Allan, Its a great idea but dont have a bike.! I will see what I can find for future cycling with the group. Best wishes. ps I dont have transport for bike but i would be willing to share costs for a lift from someone with a bike rack. I would be travelling from west end.

Well you can get a brand new bike for less than £100 and they'll been fine for the sort of rides we'll be taking. The most basic of mountain willdo or hybrid if your wanting more road riding.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
