This is our third year at the Sons of Norway lutefisk and meatballs dinner, and it's an adventure! Lutefisk is a preserved fish that has a very interesting flavor and preparation. The way they do it at the Sons of Norway Trollheim Lodge creates a fish that isn't fishy at all. In fact, when I had it I could've sworn it was scalloped potatoes. If you've never tried it, here's your chance!
In addition to the lutefisk they have yummy meatballs and fantastic side dishes and desserts. You can skip the lutefisk and have everything else and still make a great meal out of it. It's a festival of sorts, and there is singing and a real sense of community. It feels like a holiday celebration. They even have a little store where you can buy Norwegian trinkets and books.
Tickets are $19 per person and children are welcome. You must get your ticket on your own by printing and filling out the form and mailing it in. Be sure to note on your form that you're with "Monica's Meetup" so they seat you with the rest of the group. They will then mail your ticket to you. The dinner will probably sell out, so you probably don't want to wait until the last minute. They request that you RSVP by January 10th.
