Join us for our fourth meeting of the 2011-2012 year

Our fourth meeting is scheduled for February 6, 2012 at the Gran Gusto restaurant in Cambridge. Our featured speaker will be Jerome (Jerry) Farnsworth. His topic will be “A photo journey to Moscow and St Petersburg.”

Jerry received a degree in Economics from Trinity College (1960) and an MBA from Columbia University (1964). After graduating he initially pursued a business career in materials management with Quincy Market Cold Storage, then transitioned to cost accounting positions with Raytheon in Andover and Berkshire Hathaway in New Bedford.

These positions motivated him to pursue a career in accounting and he enrolled at Bentley College from 1970 to 1971 to study accounting and in 1974 passed the CPA exam. Also at this time (July 12, 1975), using piscatorial terms, he made the catch of his life and married his wife Emily.

In 1978 Jerry started his own business “Jerome Farnsworth, CPA” in Watertown, Mass and in 1986 he joined Comprehensive Business Services as a Franchisee performing book keeping, tax, and consulting work for small businesses. He retired in 1988 to pursue other interests.

Currently Jerry is Treasurer of the Belmont Rotary Club and a member of the Union Club in Boston on its Civil War Committee.

Photography has become one of Jerry’s major interests and has enabled him to  achieve some personal goals; namely:

Photographing his travels with Emily, from April 21 to May 3 they visited Russia and the photos he took will be the topic for his presentation this evening.

Our meetings take place at the Gran Gusto restaurant at 90 Sherman St. Cambridge and start with a cocktail hour from 6:00 - 7:00 PM with wine available at $8.00 or $9.00 per glass, soda at $3.00 or beer at $5.00.

Dinner is typically served at 7:00 PM and then our featured speaker takes over for 30-40 minutes and is followed by a Q&A session..

There are two choices for dinner: A three course Italian dinner at $36.00 or a pizza and salad dinner at $20.00.

If you plan on attending please email me your dinner selection at [masked]  before Friday November 4 as we have to notify Gran Gusto in advance.

IN may 2010 Jerry Farnsworth and his wife Emily joined other members of the Union Club of Boston for a trip to Russia. Last evening Jerry spoke about that trip and took us on a photo journey to Moscow, the Golden Ring cities of Vladimir, Suzdal and Sergiev Posad; as well as St. Petersburg. It was a marvelous journey and we all increased our knowledge of Russian culture.
