Our first meeting for the Fall season will be on October 3rd at the Gran Gusto restaurant and in Cambridge. Our featured speaker will be David Kidder, a retired health care policy analyst at ABT Associates. His topic will be “Health care: why does it cost so much and what can we do about it?”
During his time at ABT Associates, David designed and managed research contracts for federal and state clients on methods of paying for health care in hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, and home health.
After retiring in 2006, he and his wife, Alice, have been with the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization, first on gaining passage of Massachusetts’ health reform legislation (“Romneycare”, if you like), and more recently on an initiative to control escalating health costs in Massachusetts. He is also consulting with ABT Associates on a contract with the Medicare program to revise the system of payments for hospice care.
Our meetings take place at the Gran Gusto restaurant at 90 Sherman St. Cambridge and start with a cocktail hour from 6:00 - 7:00 PM with wine available at $5.00 or $8.00 per glass, soda at $3.00 or beer at $6.00.
Dinner is typically served at 7:00 PM and then our featured speaker takes over for 30-40 minutes and is followed by a Q&A session..
There are two choices for dinner: A three course Italian dinner at $36.00 or a pizza and salad dinner at $20.00.
If you plan on attending please email me your dinner selection at [masked] before Sunday evening October 2nd as we have to notify Gran Gusto in advance.
