Mark Cueva serves as Education Liaison for Mayor Annise Parker and directs the Office of Education Initiatives in the City of Houston’s Department of Neighborhoods. He is a native Houstonian and attended the University of St. Thomas, Houston, TX and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. His work experience includes radio and television media, non-profit and public sector.
Cueva currently develops partnerships between the Department of Neighborhoods and community organizations to increase mentoring and career-focused learning opportunities for students while developing new ways to connect students to available resources. These partnerships address dropout prevention and recovery, college and career planning, student financial aid completion and mentoring. Cueva also advocates for civic technology initiatives in the Department of Neighborhoods that relate to mapping, data, and technology.
