I am passionate and have spent my life studying how and what children learn from digital media.
I most recently worked as a Postdoctoral Design Research Fellow and Educational Research Specialist at the Nokia Research Center. While at the NRC, I worked on projects with Sesame Street Workshop creating educational games and remote communication experiences. I obtained my PhD from the Learning Science at the University of Washington. While at the UW, I worked as a Graduate Researcher for the NSF-funded LIFE Center, where I studied how children learn from digital media. I also worked with the UW Teacher Education Program, where I developed and taught arts- and technology-based courses, as well as organized seminars to help teachers. I previously worked as an Emmy award-winning associate producer and production assistant at OETA, the PBS station in Oklahoma, and I have produced a number of award-winning documentaries. I am currently working on developing an interactive science and technology web-based show/game experience for girls through my company Smiley Girl Productions.
