Topic:
We've learned about the importance of design and creativity in the future, and also of the relationship between design and competitive advantage in the future. But what about designing for the future? What might the future look like and what will thus be the implications for designing new products and services to succeed in the future? Come and learn from David Law, another Scot who is residing, working, and building companies in Silicon Valley.
About the speaker:
David returns for the third year in a row to speak to Scotland about the importance and influence of design and embracing a philosophy of design.
Born and raised in Scotland, he pursued a degree in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering at the University of London. He turned to Glasgow University to gain a first class honors degree in Product Design Engineering, a program which combines Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering. On leaving University, he joined Sanko Gosei, a Japanese Manufacturer based in England as an Injection Mould Tool Designer. He then moved to the US and joined IDEO Product Development, based in Palo Alto. His several utility patents include one of the first major commercial uses of Memory Metal (shape memory alloy). David has lectured in the Engineering Program over at Stanford and has taught creativity course and design courses for students at Stanford since 1996. Presently David founded and is a major shareholder in Speck Product Design. Speck Design a product design consultancy is committed to the success of our Customers.
