Richard Dawkins at the Lyceum 7.30 pm

There a quite a few Skeptics, Humanists and Secularists are going to this event, and we are meeting in the Shakespeares Pub at 6.30 pm before the event, and intend to meet up afterwards to discuss. So, if anyone else is going along, or might decide to get a ticket, please let me know that you are coming and I'll look out for you. After the event I will stand outside and let you know which pub we are going to.

Richard Dawkins: The Making of a Scientist

Recently voted by Prospect Magazine as the Top Thinker of 2013, Richard Dawkins is a pioneering scientist and public thinker who is famous (and infamous to some) around the world.  Dawkins was bound to have biology in his genes: he was born to parents who were enthusiastic naturalists, and linked through his wider family to a clutch of accomplished scientists.  But what were the influences that shaped his life and intellectual development? Who and what inspired him?

This promises to be a fascinating evening in which Richard Dawkins will discuss his memoir An Appetite for Wonder, in which he paints a colourful, richly textured canvas of his life. We will finally be able to understand the private influences that shaped the world’s most famous atheist, who, more than anyone else in his generation, explained our own origins. Richard will be in conversation with Professor Aubrey Manning.

I'm so sorry I missed this. I love Dawkins so I'm really disappointed. I missed my plane this morning from London so flying back tomorrow. Hope to meet you all soon.

As there are going to be over 20 of us meeting in Shakespeares, I have booked tables at the back. I plan to be there just after 6.00 pm if anyone is coming early.

I bought a ticket too, looking forward to seeing Dawkins in the flesh.

Look forward to meeting you. I didn't realise that you were in Edinburgh.

    Hello all

Just to clarify things. This is NOT an Edinburgh Skeptics event, but it is one that a lot of our regulars will be going to. Our events are publicised here on meetup, on our website: http://www.edinburghskeptics.co.uk and in our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/49320257971/

    All the best

    Ben

I know. My culture group are also going. Plus he's a total rock star and you have 5 people confirmed. I'd be skeptical he would come for such a small group. See what I did there?
