My name is Leigh, I have just taken over the leadership of the Edmonton Melody Makers. Below is a note from MJ, the original creator of this group. I figure it captures the spirit so why change it!!?

My name is MJ, and I love music and creating it! I have been a singer/musician since I was a child and now I am branching out to songwriting and composing. I am new to the city and I would like to start this project to expand on my ideas. Then I thought, there may be others out there who are doing the same thing as I and are also looking for support. I write songs  mostly for rock and indie music but all forms are welcome.

I've searched on Meetup and there was no singer/songwriter/artist group in Edmonton, so I decided to create one.

Edmonton Melody Makers are for people who love to create music but haven't found the guts yet to share it with the world. I am a beginner in regards to making music but everyone has to start somewhere.

This group would act as soundboard to discuss your ongoing projects, song ideas, musical skills, go and see bands in the city and anything else that comes up.



From amateurs to professionals, everyone is welcome as long as they have ideas they want to share. I f you are a professional, this may not be the group for you however, it is  great way to get new ideas and new perpectives flowing through your veins



This is a group for people to cultivate ideas together, boost up your confidence to perform at open mic nights in and around the city. Please join if you want to share your experiences as well as to challenge your ideas.
