Sunday December 11 - what about an informal gettogether to look at equipment

New Post on Dec. 8/11:

Okay, does this coming Sunday work for anybody to get together informally (not a formal class) just to talk a bit about equipment and ideas for events over the winter??  I'm suggesting 1:30 pm, but we could adjust that time to go with the majority.

I'm suggesting Orval Allen park, although we could do Grand Trunk.  I thought Orval Allen might be a bit better because I find it's usually quieter so less distracting with other dogs.  Post back to the site if more people prefer Grand Trunk.

Mainly for totally new people to see some of the dog gear.  Depending who comes, we could share initial tips, especially if there's more experienced people than me that come.  We can talk about whether we want the intro class (was usually about $60 each in the past, for about a 3 hour group session).  Looks like the weather should be on the warm side, am guessing that won't be good for the snow situation....

Hi Everyone! Well, winter's definitely here, although this mild week (not counting the wind) is a tease! A Big Welcome to all the new members! Remember this site is for everyone, so feel free to post ideas for meetups, start discussions, or just generally put out comments on the sport - it doesn't all have to come from the Organizer... Let me know if there's interest in having an INTRO class for beginners in Edmonton, and I can arrange to have a trainer come out. I'm guessing after Xmas, as I imagine most people will be busy leading up to it. Remember to always work on command training with your dog, and you probably want to brush up on your skiing skills if they are a bit rusty. Try and connect with fellow members (doesn't always have to be a large group thing) when the timing works out - and have FUN with your dogs!

I too would like to participate in an intro class. I think my lab Daisie is going to be a natural at this but I've never tried before so would love it if someone could show me the equipment involved and some techniques.
