"No Man of her Own" - adapted from I Married a Dead Man

The Edmonton Film Society Winter Series continues with a 1950's adventure about mistaken identity. The movie stars the versatile Barbara Stanwyck (best known for her role in "Double Indemnity" and later TV work on Dynasty and The Colbys).

"After a train wreck, Stanwyck is misidentified as a widow travelling to meet her in-laws for the first time. Alone and pregnant, Barb decides to play along with the deception. But her past comes calling."

Meet in the Lobby of the Royal Alberta Museum between 7:30 and 7:45 pm. I will be standing near the entrance of the Auditorium and have a yellow sunflower on my coat.

Tickets are $6 for Adults and $5 for Seniors/Students. Admittance for children 12 and under is $3.

This film is a superb adaptation of Cornell Woolrich's "I Married a Dead Man."

Refer to the Royal Alberta Museum website for upcoming listings in the series: http://www.royalalbertamuseum.ca/events/event.cfm?id=172.

I really enjoyed this film! It was suspenseful, entertaining, and even funny. I loved how the maid talked to Patrice's mother-in-law, haha!! "The bottle will be cold by the time you make it up the stairs." :) Great stuff. Enjoyed the company and the meetup, as always. I hope everyone comes again next week for "Westward the Women."

I also want to add how much I loved the cinematography and how some of the shots hovered on certain objects or a person while the music swelled in the background. Talk about suspense!!

With the mother-in-law, this type of depiction, along with the fact that she gets sick in the end, sets up the surprise in the end regarding the letter. Fun stuff.
