Spend a Friday evening at Global Visions Film Festival

The Global Visions Film Festival is coming up, and I'll be spending the Friday evening there. You're welcome to join me.

I'll be seeing three films. Please join me for one, two, or all of them.

The ones I want to see are "Chasing Ice," "The Central Park Five," and "The Act of Killing." These films are all playing at the Garneau/Metro Theatre, and show at 6pm, 7:45pm, and 10pm, respectively.

I'll be at all three shows. I will be in the main theatre lobby 15-20 minutes before each film so that you can meet me. I have short hair, glasses, and I'll be holding a small bouquet of artificial flowers. Hopefully you can find me easily this way.

When you've had a chance to see the film descriptions, please indicate which film(s) you'll likely be attending, so I know whom to expect for each show.

For more information about the festival, including descriptions of the films and costs, go here:

Really great films. The last one, "The Act of Killing," just left me speechless. So surreal.

Yes "The Act of Killing" was very difficult to wrap my mind around. Chasing Ice was disturbing in the global WTF are we doing to the planet way. Gorgeous cinematography too.

"The Central Park Five" was also very WTF. Everything from how those boys were questioned to how the DNA evidence was just ignored--talk about WTF. Great, eye-opening films all around.

Chasing Ice. Will try to make it on time. Might be a bit late.

Hey everyone! If you haven't already done so, please let me know which film(s) you wish to attend. If I know who is coming to each show, I know how many people to expect when I'm waiting in the lobby prior to each screening. Once again, the options are Chasing Ice (6pm); The Central Park Five (7:45pm); and The Act of Killing (10pm). Meeting time is 15 minutes before each film. I will be in the main lobby, and holding a small bouquet of artificial flowers.

Maria, I will be at the first film - Chasing Ice - but not any of the others; might check out one at the AGA that same night.

Soo many good movies this year. I will also most likely only join you for Chasing Ice on Friday. I am also interested in seeing ‘Call Me Kuchu’ on Wednesday, ’Bruce Cockburn – Pacing the Cage’ on Saturday and ‘Wampler’s Ascent’ on Sunday.

Christine, in the upcoming days, I'll be posting a couple more meetups for the film festival. The one for Sunday will include 'Wampler's Ascent.' I also had my eye on that one.

I'll definitely be there for The Act of Killing, but not the first two.
