"When That I Was"

"William Shakespeare is dead. The Puritans have closed the theatres. But Mr. Rice survives to tell his tale. A former actor and colleague of the Bard, he is there to set the record straight and share his memories of the golden age of Elizabethan drama." (taken from Shadow Theatre's website)

Well, this sounds interesting. Those Puritans...sheesh! Always wrecking theatre and such. In honour of the Puritans....let's pack the theatre with TheatreGoers, shall we? :P

As this is the matinee on the first Saturday of the show's run, this is the "pay what you can" performance.

The performance is at 2pm. Let's meet in the theatre lobby at 1:30pm to ensure that we can get tickets.

After the show, we can always head for a coffee or drinks and read sonnets to each other.

I really enjoyed this play!! Good company, too. We didn't go out afterwards--did the threat of poetry scare everyone away? :P Just kidding! ;) Great time today. Thanks to everyone who came.

Hey everyone! Just a reminder that we're meeting at 1:30pm for the 2pm showing tomorrow. Meetup location is the lobby of the Varscona. Roy and I, the co-hosts, will both be holding flowers. Roy will have a large orangy-yellow chrysanthemum, and I'll have a small bouquet of colourful daisies. Hopefully you can find us this way. The show is pay what you will. For context, tickets for the show go for 20-26 dollars, depending on what night you go, whether you're a student/senior, etc. I don't know if knowing this will affect how much you choose to give tomorrow, but I just thought I'd put it out there.

If you look at the event description, you will notice that I mentioned sonnets. I wasn't kidding about that. If we head out after and someone wants to read a sonnet or three to the group, you are welcome to. I sure will! ;)

Found a good review of the play. Still not sure I want to see a one-man show this weekend, but it certainly sounds inventive :)

I learned that this is a one-man play. That should be fun. I once saw a one-man interpretation of Hamlet, which was amazing.
