Margaret Atwood’s "The Penelopiad" - After April's Club Brunch

Hi everyone, I thought it might be fun to go to a Matinee performance at the Citadel after the April 7th Brunch! It's a story told from the female perspective, but I think it should be an interesting and enlightening show for gents as well as the gals.

An all female cast from the Citadel/Banff Centre Professional Theatre Program helms the staging of Margaret Atwood's The Penelopiad. "The play is a brilliantly theatrical retelling of the classic Greek tragedy, Homer’s The Odyssey – as told by Penelope and her twelve maids, the forgotten victims."

Citadel tickets for Matinee performances are $36.75, $57.75 OR $78.75. Call the Box Office at[masked] or go online https://tickets.citadeltheatre.com/TheatreManager/1/online to buy tickets.

Please be at the entrance to the McLab Theatre by 1 pm. This will allow time for everyone to meet and chat before we take our seats.

'Nobody maps the female psyche the way Margaret Atwood does… What a treasure she is.' – Newsweek

An entertaining performance! The all-female cast were great...singing, dancing and the details about playing the manly roles were spot on...these ladies 'scratch' and 'shift' like pro's. They made a Greek Tragedy pretty fun.

Thanks Anne for helping out. For anyone not going to the brunch, please look out for Anne when you arrive at the theatre, especially if you're early. I will have my yellowy-orange sunflower and likely my black winter coat (icky snow)...Cheers, Victoria

Hi Victoria, is there some way we can meet so I can give you the $ for the ticket for this? I am only going to one of your events in March and am not sure when I would see you. I missed out on tickets for the musical on Mar. 23 and don't want that to happen with this as well.

Hi Linda, when shows have assigned seat numbers and people want to sit together, one person buys all the tickets or we arrange to have a section of seats set aside. This usually only applies to Dinner Theatre venues like the Mayfield Dinner Theatre or Jubilations at WEM. In order to ensure no one is left holding unpaid for tickets, anyone who wants to participate in group ticket purchase will pay ahead of time to the person making the purchase. Ticket price generally is generally decided by the majority. People can post their preference online in Comments or send a private email through Meet-up. Most seats in the McLab Theatre are pretty good. I'm thinking of going with the middle price range of $57.75, but am open to other suggestions. I checked the website last night for tickets and Centre section only has space in the back rows while the Mid-Blue range has several groups of tickets in the front Left or Right sections.
