TheatreGoers Club Sunday Brunch - December

The brunch is located on the fourth level of the City Centre West Mall (formerly Eaton's Centre).  It is located on the same level as the movie theatre.  The reservation is under my name and I will be there by 10 a.m.  The cost of the brunch is $23.95 per person plus an automatic 17% gratuity.  Here is a link to the menu, which is listed under Lazy Sunday Brunch:  https://www.deltahotels.com/content/download/12390/142083/version/6/file/Cocoa%27s+Breakfast+Menu.pdf .  If you have any questions, please let me know.  Thanks.

I enjoyed Cocoas - for the price a good value on the food and as always the company is the best part of brunch ... hope you all stay safe in our snowy city this week and have a great week ~ cheers

Hey everybody. The Indoor Santa Claus Parade is at City Centre starting at 10:00 so parking and access to the mall could be tricky. I suggest allowing a bit of extra time.

Hey, Ann, I'm going to have to do a last minute cancellation. I dined out yesterday with Steve at the Blue Chair, and had a major allergic reaction (yogurt) that still has some remnants. (Not Steve's or the restaurant's fault.)

Hi Jeri. I added your name to the list of attendees. If you intend on bringing a guest, you should just be able to click in the top right hand corner where it says Your RSVP and make any necessary changes. Thanks.

Hello again, Just back with an update. I spoke to a reservations manager from the Hotel MacDonald who stated that the website price of $59.00 was incorrect, that the Holiday Brunch price is actually $79.00 excluding GST and gratuities. That in my opinion is more that I personally want to spend. If others still want to go there, I can certainly make reservations. As an alternate, I have tentatively booked Cocoa's Restaurant for 10:30 a.m. in the Edmonton City Centre Mall Delta Hotel. (the same level as the theatre is on.) The price is $23.95 per person plus a 17% gratuity. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know by the end of this week and a final decision on the location can be made. Thanks again for your input.

A little bit of a heafty price tag just before Christmas, the Hotel Macdonald may be a treat to look forward to in early 2014. Cocoa's is fine for us.

Agree...79 is too pricey. Cocoas sounds good...we've never been there

Hi, I am checking out some venues now and just wanted opinions on the Hotel MacDonald downtown. They do have a brunch in the Empire Ballroom but it is a bit pricey at $59 per person excluding gratuities and GST. As it is the festive season, I would like to get something booked as soon as possible, so any feedback on the price would be appreciated. There are lots of places that are more reasonable out there as well. Also the Festival of Trees is on the same day at the Shaw Conference Centre. Might be something to do afterwards if there is enough interest and if so and the Hotel MacDonald doesn't work for most then I will find something else in the general area. Thanks for your input.

Okay well it seems there is enough interest to seriously consider this then. I will post the Festival of Trees as a separate activity. Thanks for the input and if anyone else has suggestions please let me know.

OK, I got a place in mind. But they don't take reservations. A new restaurant opened up earlier this year in Spruce Grove called State and Main. Great brunch offerings. They said they shouldn't have a problem accomodating us. About 20. Do you want to take a chance and maybe have to wait for a few minutes while they clear and set up some tables?

    • Emad E.

I hate to drive all the way up to Spruce Grove and find a long line! December is a very busy time for the resturants.

Good point. I think we need to find someplace that will take reservations, especially for December. Plus the driving conditions is a big factor for many people. John, perhaps you could look at State and Main for non brunch event with a small group for a special treat or combined with a show/activity in case the restaurant is full? Thanks for the suggestion.
