If it ain't Baroque...

An upcoming theme at the Art Gallery of Alberta is "Myth, monsters and the baroque. A season of strange beauty at your AGA." Sounds intriguing!

Among the upcoming exhibits, one that I would like to see is "Beautiful Monsters: Beasts and Fantastic Creatures in Early European Prints."

The other is "EDO: Arts of Japan's Last Shogun Age."

Let's meet at the main doors of the AGA at 1 pm. If anyone wants to have coffee or a snack (or sushi?) before or after we see the exhibits, please indicate your preference in the comments section.

The weekend of synchronicity continued at the AGA. One guide - Diane - is a new club member and Andy is an organizer for the Blue Society event (last night). The guided tours with our small group were most excellent...the stories make the art come alive!! Must do again!!

I had an absolute blast. Thanks to all who came! It was so much fun being at the AGA with you! I loved the tours to get context and stories about the historical periods from which the art came. Running into my cousin and his girlfriend from Calgary, of all people, was an added bonus!!

Hey everyone (who is coming to this!) Just a reminder that we are meeting at 1pm at the Art Gallery on Sunday. We will be in the main entrance area of the AGA, if you don't know us and need to locate us. Steve has promised to bring the big sunflower (thanks, Steve), and I'll be holding it. I hope that my profile picture also helps you to find me and the group. That, and I'm pretty loud, so you'll have no problems finding me. I'll shush up once we get into the gallery, though. ;)

How about coffee at Three Bananas before we go to the AGA?

Hi Beth. I will be there with a couple others, as we need to plan out some of the logistics for the upcoming Luminaria event. But if a group of AGAers wants to grab a table next to ours, you are more than welcome to.

Found an opportunity for a discount! For anyone who has an ETS bus pass, or a same-day bus transfer or a validated ticket, you can get $3 off your admission!

Excellent sleuthing skills Maria. Price reductions are always a good thing!

Come on, Theatre Team! Let's keep those YES RSVPs coming! :D

And I've heard you all that maybe a Thursday AGA outing on free-admission night would be better for a future outing. I will keep that in mind when I undoubtedly will organize an AGA outing for the future. ;)

I'd like to come but I have some physical problems that would spoil it for me. I found the No RSVPs kind of discouraging at first but it usually worked out that I had other members who wanted to go.

Hi Roy. Too bad that you can't make it. And there is plenty of time, so I'm sure that people will sign up as time goes on, and they realize just how awesome this event will be, and how much they want to come! ;)
