The Missionary Position

Something to try is The Missionary Position. The play by that title, that is. :P

It's put on by the Studio Theatre at the U of A, and Wednesday evening is the $5 preview show. The show is at 7:30pm, but let's meet between 7 and 7:15pm so that we can get tickets and good seats. I've included information about the show below, and it includes a synopsis. But here's a teaser:

" 'The Missionary Position' promises to be politically contentious and provocative, as it follows a group of deeply committed young missionaries to a third-world country to save children they perceive as lost."

Hi Steve & All, From what I understand, most of the Timms actors are 4th yr drama students. The women with the afro hair (and cigarettes) from "The Memorandum" is starring as Joan of Arc in the next show. I

Yes, the performances in Studio Theatre are done by the 4th year BFA class. Often (always?) the shows are directed by MFA students in the directing program, although Joan of Arc is going to have a distinguised visiting director. What an amazing opportunity for these students to hone their skills in a beautiful theatre like the Timms!!

Yes Steve, nearly all lawyers embrace the missionary position. The cast does have potential.

An enthusiastic cast took on an intense story...recognized some cast members from The Memorandum...these students put on a good show. Rumour has it that at least one of them has the shtuff to be a lawyer ;-)

Loved the wet T-Shirt contest at the end. Seriously, it was a good story with an interesting and well done presentation.

Hey everyone. Steve has offered to help Victoria and me with co-hosting duties. Arriving with him will be Guy, a large yellow sunflower. So if you can't find Victoria or me in the lobby tonight, look for Steve and Guy.

I'm thinking of parking across 87 ave. at the Campus Towers parkade. Anyone know a better parking spot?

Thanks Andy, I'll check it out. Never ceases to amaze me at some of the places the street view car gets to but they only did the parking lot not the paths between the buildings.

Another place you might try is the outdoor parking lot behind St. Stephen's College, that older red building that houses the Community and Culture (or whatever it's called) division of the provincial government. I'll likely find free parking within the residential neighbourhoods nearby and just walk over.

Hi everyone. Looks like we'll have quite the crowd for this show! Since we have 20 people signed up as of today, would anyone like to help Victoria and me with hosting this event? If you've never hosted before and think you'd like to give it a whirl, co-hosting an event like this is a great way to try it out. Or if you've hosted before and would like to help out with this, we would love to have you, too. The more, the merrier!

If you're interested, please message me or Victoria, or please reply to this note, indicating your interest. Thanks!
