I am a second mother, best friend, confidant, playmate, doctor, nurse, magician, actress, singer, and entertainer. My job is one of the most important jobs in life. At the end of the day, I am exhausted and tired. I am underpaid. There are days when I am ready for coffee by 10a, or when I want to bang my head against the wall. I love chocolate. Sometimes I want to hide in the closet or a corner. I never have a chance to sit down. My job doesn't have corner offices, company cars or vacations. Instead, I am rewarded with the love of a child, appreciation from their families and the fact that I made a difference in a child's life. Who am I? I am an early childhood educator and love what I do. Writers suffer from "writer's block", while teachers suffer from "teacher's block". We need an idea for an art project, a title of a story we can't think of, or new ideas for activities with our class. We may have a problem and need a solution. This is what early childhood education is: networking. Some of us are experienced educators, while others of us are newly minted. Everyone needs someone to talk to who understands their job. What better way to do that than at The Teacher's Lounge? Educators and nannies welcome!
