Startup Weekend Education introduces educators and community leaders to “No Talk, All Action” and brings together an invaluable community of entrepreneurial minds. Education events are conceptualized with the goal of improving education for everyone by solving real problems constantly faced by educators - over the course of one weekend. With community-building as one of the key defining aspects behind the events, these events are structured to bring together educators from the local community so that they have a valuable space to address and solve problems.

Chicago SW Education kicks off with Educelerate on Thursday evening with a panel discussion featuring some of the judges and coaches involved in the weekend's events.

All events will be held at the Michigan Avenue campus of National Louis University, a private, not-for-profit university which, since its founding in 1886, has played an historic role in education including helping to found the National Kindergarten Movement and the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) as well as establishing the importance of academic and professional training in childhood education theory and practice.

I'm a K-20 education professional development professional working for a Common Core-focused company just now but in the process of trying to launch complementing ventures: editorial/consulting service, educational publisher, and an educational consulting business. As a publisher, I want to look at all kinds of media for "publication." As an editorial company, do one of the things I love most which is helping writers find their voices and craft their stories. I'm also supporting a documentary venture through that work and the use of social media. The educational consulting business to look differently at education--not limited only to K-12 or even HE. If we want folks to be lifelong learners, the educational consulting has to address learners of all types at all levels and in all industries.

Christopher, As one who is just starting to get his feet wet in this arena, I am trying to get a holistic look at the whole year. Can you tell me what this event involves??

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
