The Fall Fab Collab'!

Hello EAMC members, players and jammers.  It’s been a fabulous fall so far and we are hoping for more of the same in the weeks to come.  So that sets the stage for Einstein Alley’s Fall Fab Collab’.  I think that is Abbrev Talk for good music, new collaborations and getting together with friends to make music or just listen.

Those who attended the September event were treated to some fine music from new members and also some familiar faces.  People who hadn’t played together before got to know new musicians and some are already planning new groupings and collaborations for this upcoming event. It’s all about music and harmony and maybe pushing ourselves to somewhere we've never been creatively. Jump in. But if you want to go it alone and show off your stuff that’s fine too.  And if you like to sing but need accompaniment there are plenty of great musicians that are willing and waiting to hear from you.

The Fall Fab Collab’ will be held on Sunday, November 24th, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Princeton Public Library on Witherspoon Street in Princeton, NJ. We will be set up in the Community Room which has great acoustics and has been the venue for past events.

This is a free event.

The Coordinators for this event are Garry Pearsall and Nicole. You can contact us via email by clicking on us right there to the right of this event page. Contact us if you would like to reserve a time slot to perform or you have any questions regarding the event.

When we begin to receive participants we will post a sign-up sheet in the file section to keep everyone apprised of what is happening.

ACCOMPANISTS – This is a call to anyone who would like to offer yourself, your instruments or your voice to support a participant in need. Contact Nicole or Garry and we will post your name and info on our Accompanist Registry in the file section.

We would love to see you all at the Fall Fab Collab'. Come out and support your fellow local musicians the Einstein Alley Music Collaborative.   Thank you.

As many of you saw, I shot some of the performances on video yesterday. Unfortunately during the middle of the event when I got the dreaded "disk full" message I was unable to video until I could free up hard drive space. In the days ahead as I view and edit these, I will post many on YouTube and feature selected highlights on our group's new Facebook group, which if you have not yet joined, you really should because it's a ton of fun. We are at https://www.facebook.com/groups/EAMusicians/

A hard drive camcorder? How quaint :-). You have found the main reason they didn't catch on. Well that, and some don't work above 8000ft or so.

You all made it a great event. Thanks to everyone that came and performed and especially the guests. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Musically, it was definitely one of our best. What a nice surprise to have Robert and Steve pop in out of nowhere (well actually Philadelphia) and put up such a good set. Everyone else was at their best as well. See you at the Holiday party.

Thanks for the props. We are more local than that. I live in Lawrenceville and Steve is in Morrisville. It was a real treat to come out to play and listen. Hope we get to collaborate with some of you soon. If anyone liked the stuff we did and would like to try singing or playing with us, let me know.

So many highlights - Helen sang with a rock band, Eric Heller sang and played the guitar case, Jeff unveiled a new original, Novo Rodeo rocked the house, and quite a few first timers performed. Great collaborations! Great event! Kudos Garry and Nicole!

Fantastic! So much talent, new faces, great musicians today! Hats off to our organizers for putting such a great event together. The collaboration quotient was quite high, which is what we're
about. Glad we could stay the entire time to hear everyone's sets.

Hi, I'd like to get a performance slot for myself and a guy who plays sax and sings with me. Let me know what's available

    November 23, 2013

    • Robert F.

Thanks Gary, how long should we plan to play for. If I am free for the holiday get together, that could be fun too. Is the date known yet?

      November 24, 2013

    • Garry P.

You get a 15 minute slot. That includes setup which should be minimal...just plugging in and sitting down. What ever. Yeah, last years holiday meetup had a great turnout and was a blast. I think this years is the 29th but my head is too into today to be 100% sure. We will be sure to announce it today and give good info.

I'll be bringing my Kurzweil keyboard, so it will be available if anyone wants to use it during today's event.

    November 20, 2013

Hey Jay. So you know, there will be a S90 at the event for anyone to use. Hope that helps your planning and reduces some hassle for you.

    • Jay P.

      Love the S90. Can't wait!

I wish I could attend, but I was unable to find an accompanist

    November 19, 2013

Row, why don't you do the live Karaoke? Just pick a song you want the band to back you with.

Hi Garry. Now that Jay agrred to play fore, i was wondering if u could give us the earliest possible time slot since he needs to leave before 4. Ty

    • Garry P.

Hi Row, Glad you were able to work things out with Jay. I will put you back in the 2:35 slot. Let me know, when you can, what you will be performing. See you there.

      November 20, 2013

  • Nancy H.

Will do Steve! Thank you! In the meantime if you want to hear it go to You Tube Nancy Halter and it's "Running out of Time" I think it's the 4th or 5th song down on the list.

    November 18, 2013

  • Nancy H.

Is there anyone out there who would like to back me up on one of my original songs? I can play it alone but it's much more exciting with more guitar and lead "noodling". I usually play it with a friend who's in NY right now. I have it on You Tube if you'd need to hear it.

    November 17, 2013

    • Steve G.

I'd be happy to help Nancy, but I'd like to hear it to practice first. Could you pls send me a private message with your number and we can speak? Thanks!

      November 17, 2013

  • Nancy H.

I forgot to say, the original I want back up on is a Bluesy tune.

The last time I saw my doc he confirmed that I was, indeed, alive, but thanks for asking. I did see Garry's announcement and of course I'll be there through the entire event, including the Live Karaoke part. I didn't see a separate area to respond to that in particular, but certainly my YES RSVP includes it. Did I miss something?

    1 · November 15, 2013

    • Garry P.

Are you rocking the Live Karaoke Dionne? Pick a song and email me. That would be awesome.

      November 15, 2013

  • Steve G.

Did everyone see Garry's announcement about the special LIVE KARAOKE Feature that will close this event? Then why has only Dave Haynie claimed a shot at 3 and 1/2 minutes of fame? And why have only 30 Collaborative members RSVP'd to watch??? Is there anyone ALIVE out there???

    November 15, 2013

    • Garry P.

Hey Kurt, If you want a slot let me know what you want to do. Also, I know that Rowena Hess is looking for an accompanist. Contact her on the meetup site or drop me an email. It's not real Karaoke. You get to front a live band. Do it.

      November 15, 2013

    • Garry P.

Hi Francine, You can sign up for Live Karaoke when you get there..no problem. The performance slots will be set by then though. Let me know if you want me to fit you in. If you want to harmonize just ask someone. We're going to do some group sing at the beginning don't be late. Click on my head shot if you want anymore info.
