Kudos to Steve, Rachel and Janie for pulling the OHW event together last night in spite of all the obstacles. You did a great job! I'm glad you didn't cancel.

FINAL NOTE: The evening plan is now set. If you have not spoken directly with Steve about performing, then you are likely not on the schedule. I hope everyone comes out to the library for a fun evening of participating in musical trivia and listening to music by Pi Fight & Friends. Please see Steve's note below for additional details.

Because of Sandy and its disruption on our lives, (including leaving PiFight without a working rehearsal space) we have adapted the format of this evening. We hope that many of you will want to attend as audience members or even participate.

Much of the evening will be a "game show" with a music expert host. A short segment of up to 30 OHW songs will be performed either by the band or on an MP3 and audience members will try to guess the song title and artist. Then we will have a number of musical interludes where PiFight will perform 3-5 One Hit Wonders in their entity from our regular repertoire. These will include - Jenny, What I Like About You and What's Up. Also Collaborative member(s) who sign up in advance will have a chance to perform OHW songs. If you are interested - please contact me ASAP. Finally we will end with a short jam/sing- a-long. Possible songs for this segment include Sugar Sugar by the Archies and We are the World. This will be fun!

With all due respect Sam, when you have 20+ multiplatinum artists getting together at one time to record a charity song that sells 20 million copies and is the fastest selling American pop record in history - and at the direction of two blind singers and Quincy Jones everyone leaves their egos at the door - THAT is a one hit wonder. I love Layla but EC + Duane Allman does not equal the same thing!

So...if Derek and the Dominoes also included Boy George, Terrance Trent D'Arby and a slew of others, it would have been big enough to be a one hit wonder? If the disqualifying factor for Derek is multiplatinum membership, then the same rule should apply to any other group. I get it that the sales of Q and friends' song was unprecedented, and that the cause was noble, but this does not cleanse We are the World from its star studded status.

    Steve,

Is the objective of the game to play snippits from the middle of a song to "stunp" the audience, or to play the familiar opening parts? Are they guessing song or performer - if song, thn we would want to avoid songs with the song namein the opening lines.

We are revising the format a bit as Hurricane Sandy through a big monkey wrench in planning -- and practicing (kinda hard without power and lights). If any member wants to perform a one hit wonder song, they should contact Steven Georges. Pi Fight will not be doing entire songs for many of the One Hit Wonders -- just sound bites. It is a trivia contest so complete songs are not needed. Stay tuned as we work out all the details.

    Steve,

I have had a couple of members ask how they could "participate" in his event. I am interested myself. What should members do if they want to be pat of the PI Fight & Friends?

This is the description from the library site

    Location: Community Room
Music trivia fans can show off their knowledge and vie for prizes at this event featuring music by Pi Fight and other musicians who are members of the Einstein Alley Musicians Collaborative. Pi Fight and Friends will play songs by one-hit wonders as participants fill in trivia forms. There will also be a team round and speed round. Prizes provided by the Princeton Record Exchange. Hey guys. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend this event because I will be a B. Reith concert in Baltimore. But when is the next meetup?

I'm going to try, but may have a conflict
