This is very last minute, but as the members of our new collaborative community are excitedly getting ready for next weeks Music Party, I wanted to extend a warm, if late, invitation to our members to the Einstein Alley Entrepreneur's Collaboratives "Occupy the Elks"/"The Holidays Ain't Over 'til We Say They're Over, Dammit"party which will feature my band, PiFight performing, and food and drink TONIGHT at the Elks Lodge of Princeton from 6-9PM. Tonight is also the first anniversary of our band's first performance, and we will be celebrating!
Some reasons why this gathering might be of interest to our group:
1 - I co-founded this entrepreneurs community some 8 years ago and it was the model in my mind for our new Musicians community - a grassroots collaborative network of local friends who gather some 6 times a year in an atmosphere of shared trust and friendship to support one another's entrepreneurial activities - Substitute "musical" for "entrepreneurial" and you basically have the formula for our group.
2 - I know from the process of moderating the really terrific conversations as members get ready for next week's music party, that we are pushing many of us (myself included) outside of our comfort zone. Part of this is that most of us don't know each other - and yet we are teaming up to perform at next week's party. So anyone coming tonight can get acquainted and break the ice a little bit.
3 - I'm going to go out on a limb on this one. Pi Fight has a set list for tonight, but I will invite any member of this Collaborative who is a singer to join us and sing backup. As I haven't sprung this on my band mates yet - (many of whom are members of this community and probably reading this in real time), I hesitate to invite anyone to bring their instruments and sit in with us, but will keep an open mind to anyone sitting in - if the vibe is right - and so long as you don't mess up our act.
4. I have a good feeling that some of the members of this group are good candidates for the entrepreneurs group. The 200+ members are eclectic individuals - some are serial entrepreneurs - some are service providers to entrepreneurs - some are thinking about starting a business. I'm not surprised that PiFight grew out of this community - because starting a band is a lot like forming a team to start a business.
5. As Mr. K and H insured the public, a splendid time is guaranteed for all.
Here's the details. The cost of the evening is $20 which includes beer and wine, food, dancing and entertainment. We also will have our annual re-gifting event - you may feel free to bring that holiday gift you received which is, well lets just say "special" and you can try your luck at possibly "trading up."
The Elks Lodge of Princeton is located at 354 Route 518, Skillman, NJ . Hope to see some of you there!
Aloha, Steven G.
