We'll start as usual at 18:30 for some pizza and beer. Talk starts at 19:00.
See you next wednesday
* Rashid's abstract:
Logs suck. But, as a community, we’re fixing them. Let's put an end to grepping, sedding and awking like a neanderthal. I’ll introduce an architecture and open source application stack for analyzing logs in real time. We'll discuss the problems that are unique to logging and the inherent trade offs between the free, the less free and the commercial solutions that exist for dealing with machine generated data. Logstash is paired with Elasticsearch to ship, smudge, store and search. We'll talk about why Elasticsearch works well for logs and discuss different querying strategies we can use with a time based data flow. After that we'll drop a friendly interface on top of the whole thing in the form of the Kibana, a free and open source interface focused on searching and analyzing logs.
