Pub quiz at the Minster Tavern

Hopefully this will be another nice relaxed evening where it doesn't matter whether or not anyone knows any of the answers. Sorry that this is the same venue as the regular pub meetup the week before, but I asked at the Prince Albert and they were fully booked up with regular teams, and the King's Arms's fortnightly quiz is currently on in the same weeks as the regular pub meetups. This is a weekly quiz which starts at 9, which seems quite late, so I am suggesting a start time of 8 in case some people want to treat this as a regular pub evening and don't necessarily want to stay until the end of the quiz. Equally I don't mind if people more interested in the quiz arrive later and closer to the start time. I hope to see as many of you as possible there, and I hope everyone who attended the last quiz can make this one too.

Helloooo, I'm new at this, I've never attended any meeting of meetup, and I agrege to this because it takes me closer to cambridge, but I'm not sure what will ... my English is a bit basic, so do not really understand things! : ( That that the questions? They are going to the bar to assail something and meet people or just going to play a game of questions??? Hahaha ... I think I'm a little lost!

    Greetings to all

Hi Rosario, don't worry, the pub quiz is just a bit of fun. We will sit round a table and usually the questions are read out loud so that everyone in the pub can hear them, or you are given a sheet with the questions written on them (I don't know which type this quiz is). When we are not listening to or talking about the questions we will just be able to chat about anything as you usually do in a pub. If you are not British you might find some of the questions more difficult to answer e.g. pictures of TV celebrities to identify. I hope you don't find those types of questions too frustrating, and rest assured it doesn't mean you don't know a lot! Other questions might be about topics that aren't specific to the UK e.g. science. Y no te preocupes sobre tu nivel de inglés, si quieres algo traducido yo lo intentaré! I hope you make it along tonight and enjoy it, and that it encourages you come out to more events in the future.

Hi depending on work, now away for work. Will keep you posted x

Hi Rachael, hope you can make it. I forgot to say there is no charge to take part in this quiz, I think that makes it even less important if someone arrives late.

Hi again everyone, thank you for signing up for this event. With 13 of us I think there is a good chance that we will end up having to split into two or even three teams/tables for the quiz, I hope everyone is OK with that.

In fact, I've never been to this quiz before (or even to the pub, except briefly to ask about the quiz) so I don't know how full it gets. Although at least two of us will be there well before the quiz starts, I am thinking of a 'plan B' in case we can't all get seats / tables. Hopefully this won't be needed but just in case, if you think you might be late, please take a note of my mobile number [masked]).

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow, and I hope everyone enjoys the evening.

Hi Claire hope you are settling in well. I have just joined this group but have been in and around Ely for the last 10 years. Currently in Southampton though until June. How are you finding Ely? My mother has a shop called duck egg blue interiors if you need any new bits and bobs for your house in the centre of Ely. Let me or anyone on here know if you need any advice about the area everyone from this part of the world is pretty friendly.

Hi Daniel, well only lived here 4 days.. Most of which has been spent unpacking! I'm sure Ely will be fine.. I'm going to be working at the Science park so hopefully will get out and about in Cambridge a bit also. Wanted to live in Cambridge really but it's so expensive and property goes so fast! Had to find something quick for myself and my cat, so Ely it is! Will check that shop out.. Maybe after I get paid though!

Cambridge is great good nights out and norwich is worth a night out too and is not far on the train. I know what you mean I work in property and we are looking at purchasing property to let in the Cambridgeshire area and the change between the outskirts and the centre really is significant. Hope you settle in ok

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
