We want this meetup to be more than just "another presentation" so we have some ideas we are going to be trying out. The general idea is that we want to be actively involved in growing and supporting the local Ember.js community as well as the online one as well. After our standard main presentation at each meetup we will be hosting a project night where developers can ask questions of each other, share ideas, demo code, work on projects together, contribute to open source - there is no set agenda but these ideas should set the appropriate tone.
We would also like for the Ember Dallas meetup to be involved in a community project or two - either in the literal sense where we find a local organization we can donate and apply our programming efforts towards or in the Ember community sense where we find an open source project to contribute to or begin one of our own.
Again, the idea here is learning is best accomplished when presentation of information is coupled with the application of it. By having these hack nights, having a project we are actively involved in, it gives all of us an avenue to apply what we are learning at the meetups and on our own.
Attendance at Ember Dallas meetups does not obligate you to having to commit any code or attend any of these events. The two activities do not have any dependency on one another but are instead intended to be complimentary.
As with all things these ideas will certainly evolve over time and we are open to suggestions. While there are 3 of us initially kicking things off we are open to participation from others and the group dynamic itself will help shape things to come.
Given all of that, below is the time schedule of an Ember Dallas meetup:
6:30 - 7:00pm - Social time with food and beverage provided by our host: Active Network, Inc
