August Table Read - "Worn"

We are proud to announce our second table reading event, coming August 12th. Our plan is to have a new script reading each month, please send any submissions to meetup (at) emergingartistproductions (dot) com, please note: all submissions must be registered with the WGA PRIOR to sending them over, they must be under 30 pages and the writer MUST be in attendance for the reading to take notes (starting with the September event).

Our August Table Reading will be the short film script "Worn" by Jeff Palmer. A dramatic 20 minute short, which will be recorded for an out of town production company with two of the cast members reading their parts.

Short Synopsis: Before moving his family to Seattle, a man tries to get his father off the streets of Sacramento, one last time. While their day together sheds light on a contentious past and helps to mend wounds, will it prove enough to turn their lives around for good?

We will be announcing additional roles/actors needed before August 1st.

Very cool! Valuable tool to get a feel for the script and helps to firm up shots. Fleshes out the piece. Wow can help anticipate challenges that may beset a shoot. Great meetup! Give me more! Thanks all for sharing your "flavor".

I thought the table read went very well, it allowed us to explore the script and the discussion afterward was lively and interesting. It was also recorded for the writer and here is what he said about it: "Just watched the reading notes and comments session. The input and feedback was really excellent and presents me with a lot to mull over and riff on when I'm ready to dig in for a rewrite. The fact that Stuart and Paul inspired a discussion that went beyond what was on the page (their shared past, possible future, hopes, etc) was, for me, the most telling aspect of this process. In the end, the two men are real people, not merely "characters", that seemed to resonate with folks on an emotional level. As a writer I couldn't be happier about this. Again, thanks for your time and offering all your thoughts. With any luck it'll be on the big (or little) screen someday. Warm regards, Jeff"

If you shoot a film without a table read the unexpected may bite you. Or worst that amazing shot may allude you. Either way...MISTAKE! Great tool. Great place. Great bunch of folks participating. Great script. Tony The Tiger should have been there to describe it. : )
