A Brief introduction:
Jazirat Al Hamra, or the Red Island, is one of the last authentic traditional town still standing in the UAE. Once a small island, but now a long and narrow peninsula that backs into the port and further along, its inhabitants subsisted on maritime and pearl trading. The area is believed to have been occupied since the 16th century but abandoned nearly 40 years ago before the discovery of oil and gas in the region.
Ladies & gents, first of all, this is an abandoned village, there are lots of opportunities for HDR & long exposure shots inside the abandoned houses, so make sure to bring along a tripod.
The roads separating the houses are very narrow, & could work wonders with a wide angle lens. So, I would say bring along a lens in the range of 10-50mm.
The main attraction here is the old watch tower, however it has been barricaded with fences a year or two back. Shame! :( That said, it can still be used as a nice interesting background for your images.
