Bi-Weekly Photography Meetup. Theme: Food Photography

Thank you for your interest in this meetup. Please note that event details may be subject to change. Please check this page regularly for the latest information.

Our biweekly venue is The Change Initiative building in Al Barsha. Coming by metro? This video will show you how to head over to the venue from the Sharaf DG station. Traveling from the direction of Internet City? Watch this video. (You can skip ahead 1:20 if you are coming down Sheikh Zayed Road from the direction of Jebel Ali/Abu Dhabi.) Heading down SZR from Dubai? Watch this video if you don't mind paying for Salik, and this one if you want to avoid the toll.

We strongly suggest you scout out the location beforehand if you are unsure about finding it. If you need help, call the EPyC hotline ([masked]), but please note that the event starts at 7 PM sharp, and we may not be able to answer calls after that time.

There will be a minimum donation of AED 20 to cover club costs, including venue rental.

Niluji, thank you for the 'understanding' - jokes help to divert the mind from those millions butterflies in tummy!!!! :-)

Meetup was good. Kirit Ramaiya was excellent; presented a complex subject in simple and honest words.
Main theme got a bit diluted (my viewpoint, ready to face bullets) when Hany (Hany, you're sweet, honey) and Jason (Jason, you are a knowledge bank, dear) created a kind of diversion. If the same time had been utilized to take a few shots of real food, we could've learnt more about food photography, as I believe that "learning by doing" is more effective than 'learning by seeing'. Overall, a good Meetup.

We can make such an event happen in the CI resturant... but getting 60+ people to concentrate around the table wil be difficult. Secondly booking the conference room for 4 hrs will be difficult... cos CI closes at 9 pm and people would need to turn up at 5pm sharp... rajesh I hope you are making note of the difficulties in organizing such an event... :)

I genuinely appreciate all the efforts, Jason. But then, that is the sole reason why EPyC has reached and will remain in top position. We have no competition as of today :-)

Perhaps it’s an appetite for food and Hani’s French-cut smile… Loved the audience they were so tolerant.. !! - For all who want to try their cams on food, please share your experiments - I am happy to help one on one in my capacities :P

All be aware, the humidity is on the rise...
On the day of the event, if you take out your camera when it is cold, moisture will accumulate on the lens.

    Option 1
It is cold because we tend to keep the camera in the car, and the cold air of the air conditioner cools the camera.
Before getting out of the car put the camera in a air tight plastic bag, bring the bag / camera out into ambient temperature and wait till the camera warms up to the ambient temperature. Then bring remove the camera out of the plastic bag...

    Option 2
If you want to know what I do. My camera is always in the car boot, and this way the camera is warm when i bring it out.
That is why i am always ready to shoot the moment I park the car...

      There's always a first time....

if your camera boils, because you kept it in the trunk... then someone has conned you into buying something that looks like a camera... :)
The above statement is not applicable if you have a Nikon... :)

I agree with Jahan. You don t need to spend a fortune on the photography equipments to make good pictures. Thanks Kirit for showing us that great pictures can be made with a laundry bag from IKEA. (I have that one too, will tell my help not to put dirty laundry in that as that has become my expensive photography equipment from today ;) )
