Concepts of Photography: Textures

One of the elements of design every photographer should know about is texture, which refers to the surface quality or "feel" of an object - smooth, rough, soft, etc.

On this photowalk, we would like you to seek out photographs of different textures around Bur Dubai, for instance, the surface of a metal grill, or the sand in an empty lot. If you need inspiration, or are looking for examples of photographs where textures are prominent, take a look this link.

We will meet at 4:30 PM above Exit 3 of the Al Fahidi metro station, on the green line. If you need help finding us, call the EPyC hotline on 052 9288432. Parking will be limited, so public transport is strongly recommended. Once we meet, your hosts will say a few words, and then you will be free to wander around, either by yourself on in a group. The sun will set at 6:17 PM, so if you want to stay out for a long time, look for well-lit surfaces or carry a tripod.

When you are finished, upload up to five of your five best shots here. We will be asking you to critique each other's work, so make sure you only post images where textures are prominent.

Helo Nitin, Almost all members who participated in this meet have posted their photos. In this regard I would like to have your expert opinion after analysis which photos are not actualy Textures and which one is good Texture. Otherwise no one will get know that he has done right or wrong.

Shadi, I disagree with your comment.. we all are here to improve and share our photography skills.. those who don't like criticism won't join groups like this one.. I, for sure, would appreciate my photos being critiqued.. since it will help me improve my photography...

Pratik, I checked ur photos again and I really found nothing to criticise. Nothing is wrong in them. As Nitin said, different persons see things differently. For example, they are not my style, but are they wrong? No. Neither my style is wrong.

It was fun as well as educative last evening perhaps for all of us. It will be nice for future also to select any basic element on photography and do work on that subject only. It help the people like me to learn.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
