Our second look into the elements of design will examine lines. These can be long or short, straight or curved, horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. Lines can create patterns or stand by themselves, and be solid, dashed, thick, thin, or of variable width. During this meetup, we would like you to search for the lines around you, even in places you wouldn't otherwise think to look. Then take pictures of them. Simple as that. To learn more about lines and see a few examples of shots where lines are prominent, check out this link.
We will meet inside the Financial Centre station at street level. We will gather near the bottom of escalators, on the same side of Sheikh Zayed Road as the train line. Coming by car? There is usually plenty of parking towards the Dusit Thani hotel, but give yourself a few minutes to walk over. If you need help finding us, call the EPyC hotline on 052 9288432.
Before we set out, your hosts will say a few words, and then you will be free to wander around, either by yourself with them. The sun will set at 6:02 PM, so if you want to stay out for a long time, consider carrying a tripod.
When you are finished, upload your best work here for critique; post images of different subjects to make your work interesting to others. Please only post images where lines are prominent. We strongly encourage each of you to critique other people's work by first telling us what you like about it, and then what you think could be improved. Remember, critiques are meant to help us improve our skills, so don't take any criticisms personally.
