Hi Ashraf. Point taken... We'll discuss it this Friday during the Brainstorm and feed back to everyone at the next session.
It was excellent and informative.
Now taking photos in Dubai will be tough
0 · September 23, 2012
I think taking pictures will be more interesting than tough.
It is not tough, because the implementation of such a law will cost the administration more than what they feel they will recover through fines. Yes it will impact the tourist who click pictures from known or more visible places. Again it is a very general law and very unheard of law which is not implemented even in developed country. A simple analogy, the most advanced speed radars in conjunction with fines could not stop people from speeding!!!... :)
They can't stop tourists taking photo's, that's just ridiculous, but then again, so are most of the laws here. I come from Rome, can you imagine that law there? Two thousand year old cultural pieces of magnificence photographed by thousands every day there, and Dubai is concerned for it's modern tack? Too funny for words.
People, read the link! That was somebody trying to make us laugh. Nobody is going to charge you to take pictures, so rest easy.
@nitin: it was so much fun till now... i was enjoying this conversation... Come to think of it, what if someone from the administration reads this and thinks it is a good idea... :)
Llyod said it was satire way back, it was funny to think of it though.......
Are tourists to be charged for taking photographs of Dubai landmarks?
DUBAI: Citing the need for increased revenues and protection from brand erosion, Dubai tourism officials have announced that they will begin charging for visitors to take photographs of many of the city’s iconic landmarks.
Dubai Flashbacks, which is due to come into effect October 1, will see sentries posted at many sights and given authority to approach tourists and demand payment if they see them using their cameras.
Is this for real?

Ok, apparently it's satire. But it had me going for a minute.
