Why sit around at home on a Friday when you could be out exploring Dubai's most interesting neighborhood? In Deira, you can photograph vibrant street life, dhows and abras, the spice and gold markets, buildings across the creek in Bur Dubai, and much more.
My plan is to be at Exit 1 of the Baniyas metro station by 4:30 and to start walking five minutes later. If you'd like to meet me there, I'd strongly recommend getting to the spot by metro - Deira is congested and parking is limited. Those of you coming from the Bur Dubai side of the creek can park at Bur Juman and take the metro over from the Khalid bin Waleed Station with me at 4 PM. If you are coming from the same side of the creek, consider the Etisalat Station or Deira City Centre. Should you plan to stay much past sunset (5:48 PM), I'd recommend bringing along a tripod.
Please note that this is intended to be a small event; the walk doesn't even have a fixed route. You are free to join late, leave early, or head in a different direction whenever you see something interesting, but it is up to you to figure out how to stay in touch with everyone else if you would like to do so. If you are looking for a highly structured event with someone holding your hand the entire time, I'd encourage you to wait for a later meetup.
