I'm from Scotland and and I've been living in Dubai for about 6 months now. It was a difficult start, waiting for visas, finding an apartment etc. but it's paid off and now I'm enjoying what this city has to offer. I'm new to photography, but I've noticed that my awareness of what's around me, and in the most unexpected places, has grown. It's a very nice feeling.
I'm interested in pretty much all areas at the moment. I'm almost completey new to this, so I feel a little like a new born giraffe. For the past few weeks I've been reading and experimenting with the Manual settings on my Canon 450D. I've been trying to compose photographs in a way that makes sense and I like. I've been playing around with depth of field and shutter speeds and learning the basics. Night photography is something i enjoy just now. Taking the time to set up, compose and wait for an exposure to finish and see the results is quite exciting. All of this though is just the tip of the iceberg and I'm looking forward to much more.
I guess being a complete novice at this means I'd like to learn more about everthing! Composition is important for me and it is certainly the area I'd like to improve on. And of course developing my technical skills and knowledge of my equipment, lenses and techniques.
Ha ha!! Well, if there are any members of this group who are just taking a camera out of the box and need help turning it on, then I'd be delighted to help :) Unfortunately I don't have much technical skills to offer, but I'm good company and keen to meet people with similiar levels of interest in photography.
Not yet, but I assume this happens after I click 'Next'?
Hi. I'm a 35 year old guy who, with my wife, moved to Dubai in July 2013. I'm a structural engineer specialising in offshore oil and gas platforms. I've always enjoyed photography, who doesn't appreciate a well taken photograph?
