Where: Wildwood Trail
When: Sunday, Feb 2, 2014
Time: 5:00 am
Distance: 30.2 miles
Pace: 3.0 mph - 3.5 mph
Duration: 10-11 hrs
Difficulty: Difficult due to distance and pace
This hike is limited to 4 people until someone steps forward and volunteers to be one of the drivers of a car shuttle. If there are additional volunteers to car shuttle, I will meet those drivers at the end of the Wildwood Trail on Newberry Rd at 4:15 am where we'll drop off one vehicle, then carpool to the parking lot across from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. We will then meet up with everyone else at the World Forestry Center. If you are wanting to car shuttle and are willing to drive, please indicate so in the comments section so that arrangements can be made.
THIS IS NOT AN EASY HIKE! We will start at the Forestry Center and hike to the end of the Wildwood Trail on Newberry Rd.
Barring extreme weather conditions, this is a rain or shine hike.
Bring plenty of food and water as there is none along the way. The trail will be very wet and muddy in spots so good water resistant hiking boots or shoes will be helpful and trekking poles are always a good idea. February in Portland means rain is likely so dress appropriately. It will be dark for the first couple hours of the hike so bring at least 2 headlamps or flashlights with extra batteries. Bring a sense of humor because you'll need it somewhere around mile 25.
Please remember that I am not a professional hiking guide and that you are responsible for your own safety and well-being.
