A "celebrate the day and the beautiful people we share it with" hike and lunch social...
START: Wallace Park under the covered area by restrooms adjacent to the off leash dog park at the corner of NW 25th and NW Raleigh. There should be plenty of parking along Pettygrove and Raleigh but remember no parking in the school bus zone on EB Raleigh between 27th and 26th on school days.
DEPARTING: 10:30 am
TYPE of HIKE: Loop with return to Wallace Park.
PARTICULARS: Easy does it celebrate the day and other people hike. Let's head up the 475 or so vintage stairs in Kings Heights (YES it burns so good), pick up the Cumberland and Wildwood trails and huff-puff a charge (sorta) up to Pittock and the hardest part is done. Then we head down to Burnside and into Hoyt Arboretum. There we can either tour some arboretum trails (by arboretum map) or just veer on toward the Veteran's Memorial and pick up the Wildwood Trail and on to the Japanese Gardens. We will pass thru the Rose Gardens, exit Burnside, and make a beeline for Tara Thai for lunch on the balcony under the predicted 70 degree warmth and sun.
Tara Thai resides at the northeast corner of NW 23rd/Overton and is just a few blocks from Wallace Park and our origination pint. http://www.tarathainorthwest.com/ttnw/pages/pictures.php
PACE: 2.5 - 3.00 mph (or group pace) stairs, trails, hills, and streets.
MILEAGE: I'm approximating this to be about 5.5 miles in distance give or take.... (and we can add in some gentle arboretum loops too.) Honestly this outing is less about trucking hard and fast or even calculating miles but just getting out for some overdue exercise (on my part) and socializing. Let's just enjoy the beautiful day and the people we share it with. Plan for a couple of hours or so of hiking and then casual lunch/social time. Bring cash and small bills and change if possible.
No dogs please.

• Understand that the trails in Forest Park and Washington Park cross busy Burnside and Cornell as well as lesser trafficked streets while the Marquam Trail encompasses traversing the HWY 26 overpass and other streets when heading to Council Crest.
