Does Portland need another hiking or cycling club? I don't know the answer to that but what I do know is that I take a lot of hikes and rides by myself because there is often nothing else available that fits both my schedule and my fitness level so what I'm going to do is schedule hikes and rides that appeal to me and then toss them out into this world to see if anybody wants to join in.
The events that I lead will tend to be long but moderate in pace. I don't race up the hills. I go at a speed that still allows for plenty of chatter and anybody that knows me knows that chatter is important. These hikes and rides will tend to be 420 friendly. If this fits your style and you have ideas for some great hikes or rides we will fit them in and if you would like to lead some rides of your own then that can be arranged also.
Not only are we a club, we are a community. That means we are here to encourage and support each other.
I'll always try to accurately describe the difficulty level of each hike or ride in hopes that people will choose events that best fit their abilities
Why did I chose Endorphin Drip Hiking and Cycling Club as the name for this group? Endorphins function as neurotransmitters in the brain and are produced during exercise, pain, excitement, and orgasm. I can only guarantee the first three. Endorphins resemble opiates in their ability to produce pain relief and feelings of well-being and the effect has often been referred to as a “runner's” high but the effect can occur anytime that people engage in any strenuous exercise or activity, not just running.
I am not a professional hiking/cycling guide and my personal fitness trainer certification expired a long time ago so I must insist that all participants be responsible for their own safety and well-being. Hope to see you on the trails and bike paths!
