HOUSE MEETING - Primary Education & Community Schools

  • Nov 28, 2012 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Mark Barrett is holding a House Meeting to discuss the setting up of a Free Community School in North London, its possible vision and to begin assembling a viable steering committee.

There is a shortage of Primary Schools in north London and a pressing need for new, progressive approaches to education. We are a small group of parents, academics and education professionals looking to respond to the challenge set up a new state-funded 4-18yrs School in Enfield to open Sept 2014/15. Our ideal is to start a school which produces an emancipatory education going beyond the exam treadmill, focusing on critical thinking and philosophy, faith and humanist approaches, practical life skills, vocational training, bringing the community into the classroom, creativity and learning, transformative consciousness, business and social enterprise and active citizenship.

Time is of the essence and we need a strong team if we are to develop a successful application therefore we are holding this meeting because we hope to attract qualified people interested to support the development of this project.

If you cannot make the meeting but are interested to know more please get in touch as soon as possible.
