Join us for an amazing trip to Dover Castle!
Spectacularly situated above the White Cliffs of Dover, this magnificent castle has guarded our shores from invasion for 20 centuries. There's loads to see and you get really good value for money from your ticket price. Parts we will visit include the darkly atmospheric Secret Wartime Tunnels including a vivid recreation of the Dunkirk evacuation. We will also be visiting the richly-furnished Great Tower, with costumed actors introducing medieval life at King Henry II's court.
(Aerial view of the castle)
(Spooky happenings have been reported in the underground war rooms... visitors are not allowed in here without a guide)

Meeting time: 11:20 a.m. at Dover Priory station ticket hall. I will wait for 5 minutes before setting off. I will be holding a Meetup sign. If you are unable to find me, my number is: [masked].
Make sure you get the correct train ticket for travelling on High Speed services. You can get a third off all train services with a Network Railcard: http://www.network-railcard.co.uk/
If you want to pay a bit less (about £4 less for a return ticket), you can get the slower train from Charing Cross departing at 09:10 and arriving at Dover Priory at 11:01.
I will be on the 11:20 train arriving from St Pancras, so if you get the slower train, you will have a 20 minute wait for me at Dover Priory.
We then have a 30 minute walk up the hill to the Castle. The Castle buildings and grounds are likely to be muddy / uneven, so please wear appropriate footwear for this terrain and as you will be walking most of the day.
