The subject of many best-selling books, the Enneagram is about people - how we are the same, how we are different, what makes us tick. Strange as it may seem the Enneagram appears little known in Iceland, so I would very much like to start an Enneagram community/meet-up group right here in Iceland.

What is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram is a system of 9 personality types combining traditional wisdom with modern psychology - a powerful and extraordinarily precise tool for understanding ourselves & the people in our lives - with three major applications:

* Personal & spiritual growth.
* Successful relationships at home and at work.
* Leadership development, team building, and communication skills for business.

The descriptions of these styles are both profound and comprehensive, detailing the inner motivations, thought patterns and basic beliefs of every one. Newcomers to the Enneagram are often amazed to find clear, accurate portraits of themselves and most everyone they know, a normal response is, "how on earth can it (enneagram) describe ME so accurately?"

How Can Enneagram Help Me?

On everyday levels, knowledge of the Enneagram is helpful in dozens of ways, from understanding relationships to improving communication to handling difficult people. Once you have discovered your own and the types of other people in your life, it is possible that you will start to experience valuable insights into not only the ways that you behave and respond to the world, but also priceless insight and knowledge about the relationships that you have with friends, children, husbands, wives, boyfriends, in fact everyone that you come across in your daily life.

I am currently training to be an Enneagram teacher/facilitator, I hope to certify in October '09 in the UK as there is no place to train in Iceland. One of my aims is to redress this situation by encouraging Icelandic people to come forward to learn and talk about Enneagram and to encourage them to go on to train themselves.
A large part of my internship is to work with people in helping them to discover their personality type.
