Hi, Earl and everyone,

Thanks for your checking-in, Earl, that's really thoughtful of you!  Speaking for myself, I'm fine with cross-posting.  I think the only thing that would change the focus of the Film & Enneagram Meet Up is simply not offering it, or people not attending.  Cross-posting may make the Meet Up page look a little cluttered, but that's ok.

I think including TV shows, live performances, etc. for Enneagram discussion is a great idea.  It would give people additional venues in which to socialize, not just a movie theatre or a restaurant.

I have a suggestion for a meet up:  somebody choose a movie on DVD that exemplifies a particular type or types.  Get together at someone's house to watch it.  Then the person who chose the movie could make a short, informal presentation on how the movie exemplifies type.  Then roll on to our usuall freewheeling discussion.  Right now, nobody knows what the movie will demonstrate and you gotta think about typing people as you're watching.  This is fun, but also requires you already have some fluency in the Enneagram, plus some movies just are not good examples of type.  The way I'm suggesting might enable a more intentional and deliberate presentation of type.  Plus, if you're simply a fan of a particular movie or director, you get to indulge that, rather than limiting yourself to what's playing in theatres now.  I'm sure there's someone out there who's just dying to analyze, the Matrix or the Ring Trilogy or Woody Allen.  Personally, I think analyzing Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure would be, like, totally rad, dude.   And, by the way, Tom Cruise is a raving Three, in real life and in his movie roles.  I think I could do a whole movie series on Tom Cruise and Enneatype Three.  Except that I live in a very small condo that would accomodate, like, four people, including myself.

See you sometime in December, Earl!  Sara

Hi all,

I'll be out of town until December. In the meantime, I'm thrilled to have Keith, Sara, and Kelly hosting Film & Enneagram meetups in November. Let me know if you too have an upcoming film that you'd like to host!

In this message I want to share the kinds of activities I have in mind for the group.

I have gotten requests to cross-post other Enneagram events. I want to be careful with members' time and attention though, and keep the event posts focused. So far we've been meeting for films in theaters. I'd also be glad to post DVD showings and discussions at members' homes or other gathering places. More generally, I'm happy to post get-togethers for any popular culture events (e.g. TV shows, plays or other live performances, TED talks on the computer, etc.) that would also include a discussion of the Enneagram.

Please let me know if you have any concerns about this direction for the group. And definitely let me know if you're inspired to host an event yourself!

Best,
Earl
