UX Process: Start-up to Enterprise

Thanks to our hosts at VMware, we will spend the evening diving into the depths of UX Process by reviewing a few different company/product models. Specifically, what's working, what's not, what's new, and what's disruptive to the process. We'll also learn new techniques to conquer that great divide between designers and developers.

Speakers include...

Peter Shepherd
Staff Interaction Designer, VMware
"The Amazing Whirlwind of 10 years of UX Work at VMware"
Peter will talk about the fast-paced work-life at VMware collaborating with product teams, UX engineers and customers developing the best user experience possible within our release schedule. He'll highlight the common threads and major upshifts in our UX processes during this wild ride transforming the IT world with virtualization and cloud computing.

Karen Cross
"UX Process at Atlassian"
Design Manager, Atlassian (company behind JIRA)
Karen will walk us through the complete process of how UX is communicated, organized and  followed through at Atlassian.

UX Panel Q&A Session with...

David Knight
Product Designer,  FitBit

Suzanne Pellican
Chief Design Strategist, Intuit

Melina McLarty
UX Designer, VMware

Scott Perket
UX/Product Designer, Zendesk

Zach Perkins
Director of UX, Momentum Design Lab (previously with Salesforce)

This meetup will be on January 23, 2014 at VMware's Promontory C Cafe on Hillview Ave in Palo Alto. We'll have free food, beer, wine, music, giveaways, and of course great networking with your fellow UX'ers.

Official VMware map shows directions to the Briefing Center, which is very near where we'll be holding the event. Google map showing the Promontory C cafeteria.

Shuttle from/to CalTrain from VMware
To VMware from CalTrain:  Here's the pick-up schedule
From VMware to CalTrain: Leaves @ 8:30pm

This meetup event would not be possible without our outstanding sponsors: Momentum Design Lab, VMwareBalsamiqRemote TestKit by NTT ResonantAxureO'Reilly, Omni Group, and more.

It was nice to see what processes VMware and Atlassian go through on a day to day. I'd really like to have seen more about what kinds play cards Atlassians use.

Speakers and panelists were great. I would suggest (either via the moderator's facility or a guideline for panelists) that not all questions need to be answered by all panelists, for the sake of time/answering the number of Qs that came up. No food by 6:20pm was disappointing! Otherwise good times.

I don't care what the topic is, the last meet up was incredible! My girlfriend, who tagged along without a vested interest in UX, even loved it. Consider me a groupie!
