For the month of April, the Chicago Erlang meetup is pleased to host Susan Potter, who will present a language agnostic talk on distributed systems!
A Practioner's Guide to Distributed Systems Research
by Susan Potter
Building and deploying distributed systems is often very painful. We will look at ways of rethinking common industry assumptions, and holding patterns about the design, architecture, evolution, deployment, and maintenance of distributed systems based on research from academia.
Susan has been writing software related to multiple nodes communicating or collaborating with each other since 1997 in some form or other. From building and supporting uninspired ntiered"enterprise" systems to helping engineer hybrid peer-to-peer trading networks, she is constantly thinking about how her production on-call weeks could be as quiet as possible.
