Chicago Erlang Users - April 2014

Getting Started With Erlang - Build Tools Shootout

One of the more challenging parts of learning Erlang is, surprisingly, how to build and package Erlang software. This month we'll get our tools out, roll up our sleeves, and hash out what works well and what doesn't.

We'll evaluate tools including rebar, erlang.mk, and relx. We'll also cover different ways to structure our Erlang projects using the tools.

This is a new entry into Chicago Erlang's "hands on" sessions - workshops that let you get your hands dirty in the rich, fertile Erlang soil!

Bring a laptop with Erlang installed. As long as you can edit a text file, you'll be able use all of the Erlang build tools, which we'll get online.

Note: When you RSVP please provide your full name if it is not in your Meetup profile. Mediafly's security will require a full name to match against your ID.

FYI in response to one of the discussions this evening: I keep one single copy of erlang.mk in /usr/local/include and then it can be accessed from any makefile as "include erlang.mk". You don't need to maintain a separate copy in every single erlang project directory.

Well, it appears once again, I'll not be able to make it. One of my biggest clients had a bunch of shit go down today, and now it's too late for me to leave to make it (had to miss my bus this morning because of it). Makes me sad :(\

    Hey all,

When you RSVP please provide your full name if it is not in your Meetup profile. I need that to check you in to our security desk for clearance into the building on the day of the event.

Thanks, and see you all on the 29th!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
