First Developer Meet!

Hello Everyone -

OK, so here is the plan for our first Meet Up.

We have two 20 minute talks lined up from Esri staff. There is a Desktop focus to these, but the intention is to have other elements covered in future Meet Ups and in the 'Lightning Talks'. For the (Lightning Talks) we have four spots to be filled (10 minutes each), it would be good to have them filled by developers outside of Esri - so drop me an email if you want to do one. Remember these can be about anything of interest (GIS Developer related); use them as an opportunity to share your knowledge or even any problems you are having.

This event will be informal (Geek T-Shirts encouraged...) and like all Meet ups it is about building a community. It has been put together by Esri developers for Esri devlopers and we are keen to see what you are up to and help out where we can. Any questions, drop me an email.

See you there!

PS Beer and Pizza will be provided.

Nice work on the first meetup... a great initiative, and a great opportunity to get outside the box of this office and see what else is possible / do-able.

Maybe all talks should be presented in a lightning style - max 10mins. If something needs more than 10mins, break it into many presentations with different presenters

I really enjoyed it. Good mix of talks from Esri and Non Esri people (all were excellent). A big thanks to the contributors and to all those that attended. Please give us your feedback and see you next time.

Great to hear about real-life dev projects based on Esri products!

Esri presentations were a little second-hand -- would have been good to have an actual dev from the States presenting, or even from someone flown over there to attend the pow-wow (rather than just listening over the web). They were also a little too long and detailed. But it was good to get a feel for how the architecture and APIs are evolving.

Well organised, and a good mix of people. I had a great time, and am already talking to colleagues about presenting again.

Lightning Talk 3 Taken by Stephen Salathiel (Burn Assessment Tool)

Just for the record, my talk will have little to do with "automating desktop workflows" and be more focused on "cool new stuff in Python at 10.1", especially the data access module and add-ins.
