Parkside Farm is set amidst the beautiful rolling countryside just to the north of Enfield, and is easily accessible from the M25 (J24 3 miles). It is a family run business, growing about 20 different crops, all exclusively for PYO (Pick Your Own).

What could be better or healthier then to be able to enjoy absolutely fresh soft fruit & vegetables, selected and picked by yourself? Furthermore, this is something that most family members can join in and enjoy.

Please note that August 25th is a Bank Holiday Monday.

Proposed programme:

Proceed directly to the farm if you are driving.

For those using public transportation:

Take the tube to Cockfosters (Zone 5) at the northern end of the Piccadilly line. Aim to be there between 12.30 and 12.45. I shall try and organise a car pick up from Cockfosters at 12.45 for the two-mile/3 km trip to the farm, so make sure you have your mobile phones with you and let me have the number beforehand.

There is no restaurant at the farm (but there is a shop that sells ice cream and soft drinks), so please bring your own food (or we can provide a simple picnic finger-food style on request for about £5 per head). You can always utilise any cool bags you bring along to transport your fruit and vegetables home!

13.00-13.45 lunch

13.45-15.45 Fruit and vegetable picking

15.45-16.15 Tea break

16.15 (approx) Depart farm. Those who came by public transport will be dropped off at Cockfosters station.

How the system works: there is no admission charge, but you are expected to purchase a minimum of £1.50 of produce per head. Baskets are supplied for you to store the fruit and vegetables. Purchase is by weight.

The following webpage will give you an idea of what should be available at the end of August:

This is an ideal event for a family day out in the open countryside.

When replying, please let me know if you are intending to get there by car or public transportation so that we can assess transfer requirements.

Having been there myself, you will be provided with a plastic basket which is used for the picking and it is included in the minimum charge. They will put the basket on the weighing scale with the fruits to be weighed. It's good fun and all the strawberries are table top, meaning there is no need to bend over the bushes on the ground. There are lots of fruilts and vegetables to choose as well.

Had fun! Sweet strawberries and delicious sweetcorn! Not overly priced either!

Good day out in the countryside. I don't think many Singaporeans have ever seen fruit and vegetables growing in their natural state nor had the opportunity to pick their own!
    •  I had such a fantastic afternoon with everyone. Should definitely do this again.
