Ison comet and breakfast

  • Nov 27, 2013 · 6:15 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

This is the last Ison viewing before it's closest approach to the sun for us.

We will observe Ison as the sun rise and enjoy a nice breakfast before starting the day.

Don't miss it! It may well be the comet of the century!

Ison will emerge from the east horizon at 6:44 am

The tail may be visible earlier.

Also check the Birthday/Astronomy viewing for Nov 27 evening.

I look forward seeing you.

This morning Nov 25 I tried to see if I could take a picture of Ison. I was not able to see anything. The sky was already too bright to get anything. from this test I have little hope will be able see anything on the 27 morning. Does anyone still wish to try anyway to meet?
    Please let me know.

The weather was not cooperative this morning and we could not get a picture of Ison unfortunately. The moon was high enough that we could get some viewing between clouds. We also played with a solar scope but again too many clouds to get a nice crisp picture. We had fun conversations thought and enjoy our mocha and coffee with muffin and croissant.

I had a great time. Enjoyed looking at the mood. As always stimulating conversation.

Right now I am more concern about the weather than the comet breaking up. It looks like we may have quite some clouds. hopefully it will clear up by then.

I have taken pictures of comet Ison last week and this week. it is getting brighter and looks like still in one piece. Please have a look at the pictures so you can see what it currently looks like.

Ison is on the cover of http://spaceweather.com/. It said there's an 'outburst' then clouds of dust obscure the comet. It might have broken apart.

Thank you Yves! This is such a good idea! Unfortunately, I/we can't attend but early breakfast meetings for viewing special objects is wonderful!
