Decentralized economic security: fraternal organizations, unions, and churches

Steve Waldman will speak on decentralized mechanisms to provide economic security that could be implemented on Ethereum. He will review how fraternal organizations, labor unions, and churches helped people in the past, and will compare these organizations with traditional mechanisms. Steve blogs at; see for example a  recent post on innovation and inequality that responds to comments on Twitter from Marc Andreessen.

Before Steve, Matthieu Riou of Blockcypher will give an  analysis of Ethereum, including both positive aspects and criticism.

      Excellent, Nathan.

Distributed Autonomous Community = The Global Commons => Disintermediate 20th Century Rent Seekers... I believe this to be the essence of Steve's talk.

Sam - you can likely stay at my house, we have plenty of extra couches, whatsapp pls at [masked] or email at [masked] to sort out details. Would be cool to discuss ethereum in UK.

Hey, just so you know, I'm still interested if a room opens up in your house. I'm really sick of paying the ridiculous rent that I'm paying for my apartment.

I own MOUNTAINVIEW.US (and a few other city domain names) , could be an interesting test lab for DAO and other use cases.

I'm a cost ethereum enthusiast from the uk backpacking across America and this meetup fits in nicely with my itinerary. I'm currently in Colorado, but heading to San Francisco area later this week. I'm wondering if any fellow ethereum fans are willing to host me on a couch, our my tent in a back yard, for a couple of days this weekend?
