Eucalyptus is an open source cloud infrastructure that is API-compatible with Amazon’s EC2. In this talk Greg DeKoenigsberg of Eucalyptus is going to give an introduction to Eucalyptus, its uses, how to install it, and how to interface with it, and how to make it compatible with Amazon EC2
Part 1: Greg will demonstrate the Eucalyptus Community Cloud, which
is preconfigured, to get a sense of how Eucalyptus works together with
EC2. Running the same recipes on both, using a single toolset to
manage both, etc.
Part 2: Greg will walk everyone through the process of setting up a cloud
from scratch on a single laptop. Participants should bring a scratch
laptop with minimum of 4G memory and 20G disk and we will put a cloud
on it. We're going to go with Fedora, but the adventurous can go
with Ubuntu or any other OS. The goal: learn the guts of how Euca
clouds work.
I missed this meet-up is there any chance that you will have another one like this?

Very good presentation including much needed humor, clear answers to audience questions, open talk about competing products, advantages of Eucalyptus product(s) over competitors, and hints on what's coming up in next version.

Enjoyed the demo. It was great to see it work on Kent's plain old hardware.

Actually, CentOS 6 will work as well -- that's what I'll be installing on. We will have CentOS 6 install discs handy for those who need them.
